Introduction to IELTS

IELTS means International English Language Testing System.
IELTS is a testing system used to evaluate our proficiency in  English.

IELTS is conducted in four modules 

• LISTENING
• READING
• WRITING
• SPEAKING

Candidates have to work hard on these four modules to gain good score or band scores.

Tests are conducted in two modules

 

• IELTS  ACADEMIC MODULE

• IELTS  GENERAL TRAINING MODULE

Academic module is  for candidates those who have to enroll in university courses.

General  module is  for candidates for enrolling in vocational training or secondary school.

DURATION OF MODULES

Listening test :

• 4 sections
• 40 questions
• about 30 minutes to answer the questions

Reading.test :

• 3 sections
• 40 questions
•  60 minutes to complete  the task.

Writing test :

• 2 sections
• section one (to write in at least 150 words) 
• section two (to write in at least  250 words)
• 60 minutes to complete  the task.

Speaking test :

• 3 sections( introduction,discussion....)
• 11-14  minutes to complete  the task.

LISTENING TIPS

• Make sure that your headset is working properly.
• Follow the instructions as you listen.
• While getting few seconds to go through the questions, make some guesses for answers also.  This may can help you to find the answers easily as you hear the talk.
• Avoid maximum errors to gain good scores.
• Give answer to all questions(there is no minus mark for wrong ones).
• Make sure all the answers are copied to the answer sheet.
